Officials with the Obion County Fair slogan contest announces the winning theme “Treasure Chest of The County’s Best” submitted by Macy Allison of Union City as the winning entry chosen from the many entries received by the fair board. This years fair will again bring together people throughout Northwest Tennessee and the surrounding area. The six day event will get underway on Monday, August 10 and run through Saturday, August 15th.

Brenda Baker, president of the fair says, “Fair board members are working hard to make final plans for another award winning fair. Every year visitors are surprised to know that our fair is so successful because of the countless volunteers that make up our board and prepares and oversees the fair. Every one of our volunteers works countless hours year-round to insure that each person enjoys their visit to the fair.” “We could not do it without the volunteers,” Baker added.

“Community talent will be highlighted again this year with nightly entertainment on the Back Porch Stage, as well as the youth musical to be performed at the Whitney Cozart Pavilion,” said Blake Laws, spokesperson for the fair. “There are many showcases from baking, to canning, to photography to beauty pageants with the crowning of Miss Obion County Fair, something for everyone.” “If you are proud of it, bring it to the fair’” Laws added.

Moto-Cross racing will be coming back to this years fair after a three year hiatus. The 2009 fair catalog, which will be published by local print media, will be released in the coming weeks. “We urge everyone to visit our new website, www.obioncountyfair.net for updated information on events and changes to the 2009 fair,” Laws added.

The Obion County Fair celebrates its 51st consecutive fair this year.
